Specialized Gastroenterological Diagnostics Center in Białystok

The Specialized Gastroenterology Diagnostics Center in Białystok was established in 1998 based on the Private Gastroenterology Office established by Dr. Orest Hnidec in 1983. It was the first private gastroenterology office in Białystok, where, starting in 1986, the first private abdominal ultrasound examinations in the Podlaskie Voivodeship were performed. In August 2000, the Center relocated its office to the LEKMED Private Medical Center at 19 Ogrodowa Street in Białystok, on the section between Kraszewskiego and Sienkiewicza Streets. Both the waiting room and the offices are air-conditioned. The building was designed by Marian Szymański, M.A., architect, in accordance with European Union standards. The entrance to the building is adapted to the needs of disabled people – it has an access ramp for wheelchairs, which can also use the elevator inside the building.

The center employs a team of gastroenterologists from the Department of Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine of the Provincial Hospital in Białystok, the Department of Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine of the Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Białystok, the 2nd Clinic of General Surgery of the Medical University of Białystok and the Surgical Department of the Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Białystok.

We perform diagnostic procedures of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract in two separate endoscopy rooms. We also provide patients with a recovery room. For endoscopy, we use Olympus equipment (videoendoscopes) and disposable rectoscopes, while abdominal ultrasound examinations are performed using a Philips system. The ultrasound laboratory at the Gastroenterology Diagnostics Center is accredited by the Polish Ultrasound Society. Our endoscopic devices are thoroughly disinfected in an automatic ultraviolet lamp and ultrasonic bath to ensure patient safety from potential infection.

The doctors and nurses employed at the Centre have many years of professional experience confirmed by skills certificates and constantly participate in new training.
